昔、遠い遥かの昔の話だ。一人の少女が闇に恋した。
It was a story from the ancient days. Once upon a time, there was a young girl who fell in love with Night.
日々の暮しを送ることに疲れた少女は、天を仰ぎ祈った。
The girl, who was weary of her daily existence, prayed to the heavens.
始めもなく、終わりもない、閉ざされて満ち足りた、艶やかな闇の世界に住まわせて欲しいと。
She wished to be sent to the realm of bewitching darkness; a self-sustaining enclosure where nothing begins and nothing ends.
だが、夜は冷たく、星の瞳を瞬かせるばかり。
However, the nights remain cold, and the stars merely twinkle their eyes.
少女は日の光に背を向け、眠りに落ちて、ひとときの夢に癒されることもなく、七日の間ただひたすらに祈り続けた。
The young girl turned her back on the radiant sun and drifted asleep. Yet, she was not able to be cured by her ephemeral dreams. For seven days, she continued her persistent prayer.
血を吐くような声が虚空に響いた。
As if choking with blood, her voice rang the gaping void.
「どうか私を連れて行って欲しい。愛しい闇の腕で抱き取って欲しい。この身も心も、全てを捧げるから」と。
And she prayed, "Please, I beg you to take me. I desire to be embraced by beloved Night. To him, I am willing to sacrifice my body and my soul."
それでも、深い闇は答えを返さなかった。
Even then, the dark abyss returned no answer.
力尽きた少女は倒れ、息絶えた。八日目の朝が訪れた時、その白い顔には、穏やかな微笑が刻まれていた。
Having spent all her strength, the girl collapsed. Upon the break of morning on the eighth day, her breath ceased. A calm smile remained as if carved into her pale face.
少女は、ようやく安らぎを手に入れたのだ。望みどおりに…
The girl was finally delivered to the hands of peace. As she had wished...
私の話はこれで終わりだ。泣いているのか？何故お前が涙を流す。私ならば答えよう。お前が望んでいるのは、この闇ではなく、私自身の言葉なのだから。私を永遠の孤独から救ってくれる者、今こそ答えよ。安らぎはこの腕の中にあると…
