vocal: Inoue Kazuhiko (as. Tachibana no Tomomasa)
midoriiro no hane
Following the emerald feathers,
tawamure ni tori wo otte
Teasingly, I persue that bird.
mori fukaku mayoikonda koi
Wandering astray in this love as if lost in the wood's depth,
kono mama kaerenaku narou ka?
Will I never find my way out again?
hashagi tsukarete nemuru kimi
Worn from the day's frolick, you drift to light sleep
yokaze ni mi wo makase gekkou yoku
Entrusting to the night's wind, your body bathes in the moonlight.
taikutsu na jinsei ga zeitaku na samishisa wo shiru
A man's jaded life is accompanied by surfeited isolation,
mou nido to kodoku to asobenai
Never again do I wish to game with solitude.
mujaki na ashimoto ni hizamazuki
Kneeling at your heels of naeivete,
tsumasaki ni hoho yosereba
Pressing my face to the tip of your toes
aa outou no mi no katasa de
Ah, that wonderful suppleness like riping cherries.
uroshiiro no yami
Upon lacquer night,
konya no tsuki wa utsukushii
The moon emanates its beauty.
kono mune no yami wa yori fukaku
Just as if the more I dwell in my dark desires,
kimi wa yori azayaka ni hikaru
The more you would shine with splendor.
fui ni mezamete warau kimi
You, smiling from your swift awakening,
karenai eien no gekka bijin
Are my never wilting, everlasting Gekka Bijin*.
With a folly that is willing to gamble everything for this fleeting eternity,
koufuku na otoko ga koko ni iru
I exist; a fortunate man.
hana no you ni awai sono hada ni
Your body, pale as fresh blossom,
waga mune wo nose kono mama
rests upon my own chest.
aa, oshibana ni shite shimaou ka
Ah, If only I can fix this moment in a pressed flower.
With a folly that is willing to gamble everything for this fleeting eternity,
koufuku na otoko ga koko ni iru
I exist; a fortunate man.
hana no you ni awai sono hada ni
Your body, pale as fresh blossom,
waga mune wo nose kono mama
rests upon my own chest.
aa, oshibana ni shite shimaou ka
Ah, If only I can fix this moment in a pressed flower.
kimi ga nozomeba kanawanai yume wa nai darou
If you wish, your dreams will not be mere fancy.
itaike de yurubinai manazashi
Your moist innocent eyes
kakete mo mata michiru
Resemble the moon's tenacity.
ano tsuki no tsuyosa ni mo nite
Waning, yet recovering in wholesomeness;
kizutsuki, aa mata utsukushikunaru kimi
Even if wounded, you return to your initial beauty.
*Gekka Bijin literally translates to "A beauty under the moon". It is also a common name for a type of epiphyllum, also known as "Queen of the Night (right)".
This night-blooming flower is often used to portray fleeting yet memorable beauty or a mysterious rarity; and here, it might be best described as a metaphor to the sweet intoxication of Tomomasa's ephemeral night lover.
